
The index case of the Covid-19 in Bayelsa State and two others linked to her have been discharged after they recovered and tested negative twice for the virus.
The discharged patients were treated at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH) Isolation Centre.
The Co-Chairman of the State Covid-19 Task Force and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Inodu Apoku, disclosed this at a press conference in Yenagoa, the state capital.
He stated the results from 16 samples were pending as they were yet to be analysed due to the challenges of reagents that the Irrua Specialist Reference Laboratory was currently facing.

While reiterating the compulsory use of face masks in public places, Apoku stated that the state government had extended the stay at home for another one week beginning from Monday.
He said the government had further directed travellers from high risk states of Lagos, Kano and Ogun be placed on a mandatory 14-day quarantine while inter-state lockdown and 8pm to 6am curfew continued in line with the Federal Government directives.
The co-Chair stated: “There is need to re-emphasize that public vigilance is important while asking that patients should confide in their physicians the true case history of their ill-health.
