COVID-19: 24 more patients discharged in Bauchi, 2 new cases recorded

4 more samples taken for the second test of COVID-19 status at the NCDC in Abuja by Bauchi State government have all returned negative and patients discharged.

The development followed the second test, after receiving treatment,  which shows that the total number of discharges made so far have increased to 156  as of Friday, 22nd May, 2020.

However, 2 new confirmed positive cases were reported out of the 38 samples results returned. A  situation which still leaves the current statistics revealing that the Case Fatality Rate in the state is around 2.2% unchanging.

In summary according to information received from the Emergency Operation Center of the State Ministry of Health COVID-19 Center, with the drop in cases, the state’s case management is handling only 69 patients on hospitals admission.

Also, So far, the state’s total confirmed positive cases are put 230 while the number of deaths recorded remains 5.

Commissioner of Health, Dr Aliyu Maigoro Mohammed while confirming the development on phone to Tribune Online, commended the professional conduct of all the frontline health workers saying that their commitment has resulted into the achievement recorded in cases management in the state.

An elated Aliyu Maigoro said that the state is gradually winning the war against COVID-19 pandemic advising residents of the state to continue to observe all the preventive protocol put in place to check the spread and community transmission of the infection.
